The Economist The World in 2015

Progress, predictions and pitfalls for 2030
January 22, 2015 | Brussels

The Millennium Development goals will expire at the end of 2015, and a new set of goals will be adopted to guide the world to 2030. These new goals are called the Sustainable Development Goals and their establishment follows months of a diplomatic free-for-all involving multinational companies, philanthropic foundations, NGOs, public campaigns and policymakers.

This event consisted of two sections: a discussion with top editors of The Economist on the road ahead to reaching an agreement on the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals; and an interview of Bill and Melinda Gates on big bets on where progress can be made.
